Glory Days: Crave A’Bowl and Chocolate Slide

Glory Days is a sports bar and grill you can only find in a few states along the east coast, and Florida is one of them. Like many sports bars these days, it’s got plenty of screens. Honestly, the number of screens can be so overstimulating that it feels like you need horse blinders to block them out just to have a conversation. But the food they serve is so good that it pulls your attention away to enjoy eating.

I’ve been to Glory Days a few times before, and this time I ordered something new: GDG’s Crave A’Bowl. This bowl is fairly large and very delicious! It comes with jasmine rice, broccoli, tomato and cucumber, crispy chickpeas, Feta (which I took off), garlic aioli, and a lemon wedge. You can get a protein as well, and I chose grilled chicken. This is a protein-packed bowl that feels healthy to eat while still being flavorful. The bowl is super deep, so you have to dig through to find everything, making it feel like a never-ending dish! The garlic aioli drizzled over everything made every bite garlicky, which I loved as a garlic fan. The hummus it’s served with was creamy, smooth, and rich in flavor. It combined well with all of the elements in the bowl, and the red spices of what I guessed were paprika on top gave it a zesty flavor. Everything in the bowl was warm, including the broccoli and tomatoes, which remained firm. The cherry tomatoes burst into sweet and acidic juices in my mouth when I bit down on them. The jasmine rice at the bottom of the bowl was akin to sticky rice—moist, clumped together and tightly packed. I wasn’t expecting that texture, but it worked well. The chickpeas sprinkled throughout the bowl were pleasant little bites, and they were roasted to have a crispy texture like the menu describes. All in all, this bowl was a satisfying mix of savory flavors.

For dessert, we ordered the Chocolate Slide to share. This is a decadent slice of chocolate cake with fudge icing, vanilla ice cream, and chocolate syrup drizzled overtop. It tasted rich and saccharine. I could barely finish it! The cake was extra chocolatey, moist, and a bit dense. The icing between the cake layers was thick and fudgy. The ice cream tasted sweet and creamy, a good complement to the cake. And the chocolate syrup on top made the whole thing sweet as honey.

Glory Days truly has glorious food!
